Multiple breakdowns on unit a little over a year old

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Within two weeks of having a $13,000.00 Carrier Infinity AC unit installed we had to have the mother board replaced. Since then we have had the service company out here several times for Over pressure issues and sensors going bad! If your unit goes bad Friday afternoon there isn't even a way of calling parts until Monday morning. In Florida AC is a big deal. Having to wait 3+ days to get parts is ridiculous. Carrier also does not cover repair costs, even on defective parts. only parts, No labor

Carrier warranty lets service provide charge Trip fees to cover warranty workrk

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Have several Carrier HVAC systems in home, rentals and Business. If had a problem installer fixed under warranty quick and with no fees. Today main furnaces in home failed. Called installer. Confirmed was still under warranty. But they now require a trip fee $209.00. Carrier now allows service provider to charge anything they want! Making the warranty near useless for most service issues.

Overcharging

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Yes, I'm a Contractor. Carrier has over charged me on several occasions over 300.00 at one point. My sales rep who orders my equipment says he can't do anything about it other than send in a concession. It' so far been over 3 weeks since I brought up the issue with the credit department and all they could do is tell me well, I hope your rep gets it fixed. Iv'e got it in black and white. They are against the wall and I'm intending to sue in small claims because actually they act like nothing can be done about it. We'll let a Judge decide. They also charge $50.00 to process a warranty. Or, put you can process it yourself through 2 different apps which is stupid difficult for some.

I have a new carrier unit that was installed last May and this is the my first service call and they had to replace the capacitor. Isn't that strange for a new unit?

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
How could a new capacitor be needed in a new A/C unit that is just one year old. Is it possible that this is really not a new unit? After all, how would I really know? How do I check on that to make sure I did not get a lemon. This unit cost me close to $5,000 so I need to have some assurance about the quality of this A/C unit. The unit is very quiet and has been cooling very well. I am just astounded that it needs a new part? Should I have this replaced now? If so, wouldn't that be covered through Carrier?

Had Carrier air condition unit installed 2018. We are Snowbirds.

summer 2019 fan failed July-August 2020 Capacitor failed While covered under warranty I feel we have a lemon.

Will push issue with business we bought & had installed. This replaced the 14 year old builder model that came with the house.

New design of blower motor not rated properly for residential electric voltage

Carrier - New design of blower motor not rated properly for residential electric voltage
Carrier - New design of blower motor not rated properly for residential electric voltage - Image 2
New blower motor Ahas control board functions integrated into the blower motor, doesn't operate properly with normal rated residential voltage. Extremely impossible to reach someone directly at Carrier, they say it's the electric companys problem. Electric company installed a graph to monitor voltage. It's within range. Carrier will not respond to emails

Day 1 - Our 5 ton Infinity system was installed. The unit would not power up.

I was told that the blower was bad FROM THE FACTORY. After they got it running the system shut off one day. The repairman said it lost all its refrigerant. He should me the soldering of the condenser coil and I admit, it was pitiful.

Some of the solder didn't even go all the way around the tube. And it wasn't one tube. It was almost all on there. Then the unit would shut down, especially if we had rain.

This went on for almost a year. Every week or two the system would shut down. I honestly don't know how many times they had to come out. But then one day, one of the repairmen told me after he got it running again that there was a missing ground wire on the unit outside.

He found the wire and attached it and it ran pretty decent until the thunderstorm we had the other day. It knocked out the communications board.

That's the second time that happened. You would think design engineers would take that into account, but they evidently don't.

Will never buy another unit again. just paid 235.00 dollars for a capacitor that was under warranty. it took about 20 minutes.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Warranty is worthless. Ac quit. tech came and put a non Carrier capacitor in unit because he didn't have a Carrier part on hand. Said he would be back with Carrier part and charged me 98.00 dollars. Came back and put a carrier capacitor in and charged me 135.00 dollars. 235 dollars for a total of 20 minutes of time to put a warranty part in AC.. will never deal with Ferguson Heating or Carrier again.

Lost Benefit of Purchasing Xfinity Hybrid

My Infinity hybrid is under warranty...the inverter failed. The inverter has a high failure rate. The tech replaced the old inverter with new inverter in 30 minutes and observed the system resetting for the next 25 minutes to make certain all was working properly. The one hour labor cost was $467.00. All advantage with purchasing the hybrid was lost. I would hope that Carrier would offer distributors $200, or something similar, to help offset the cost of labor for high failure rate item. We are otherwise very happy with our Xfinity hybrid. Can you help? Thank you, William Fleet

Carrier Installation Charges

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Carrier having subcontracting installation service in India.I am from Mumbai &I have purchased AC from Amazon. They are asking for Rs 1600 for installation & Rs 6200 extra for material for extra 13 feet. When I have have taken quotation from external installer they asked only Rs 3200 compared to Rs 7800 from carrier contractor. So carrier is just makin loot from customer on the name of customer service. After that I raised complaint to customer service and observed contractor has quoted unnecessary charges which are already included.

4 Failed thermostat s and will not replace a 5th time!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had a Carrier heat pump and ac unit installed in 2010. Worked great until 2017 when the thermostat failed. It was replaced under warrantee, free. Lasted 6 months when again it failed. Under warrantee , free replacement! 2018- same thing, twice. Now it has failed again and they refuse to replace it. Do they not understand they are giving me defective products as replacements since 2017. I WILL NOT buy another Carrier product.

You're lucky they gave you as many free replacements as they did. You should have hired an hvac tech to find the real cause of the thermostat failures. Something else is causing them to fail.
